Brethren:
We enjoyed seeing those who came to the June 20th Picnic – Brother Drew Mickelson had plenty of hotdogs and hamburgers for all, with good potato salad, and the weather provided a wonderful climate to sit and enjoy chatting with friends, fellow Masons, and their families. Even enjoyed a visit by Tic Toc the Clown (Brother Bahmer hiding under a huge amount of white clown paint).
Morningside Lodge is fortunate to have a beautiful building for our meetings and fraternal purposes. But like any building, it needs regular attention. The Trustees provided that attention, and have had to be especially attentive this past year, especially to heating issues. It appears a boiler has come to the end of its useful life, and probably will have to e replaced (repairing would essentially amount to a replacement). Fortunately, having reliable tenants in the commercial part of the building, means the substantial expense of a new boiler installation is not a calamitous disaster, but it does leave the Trustees with a much thinner reserve. A couple of recent bequests have really helped in this regard.
The Lodge is not a building, but one can’t deny that a regular, comfortable, accessible meeting place makes the operation of the Lodge much easier. The secretary always appreciates notes about memories of your Masonic involvement – or your current involvement – particularly from our out-of-state members. Morningside Lodge #615 has members as far-flung as Bow, New Hampshire, and Kennewick, Washington, and Kailua, Hawaii.
Fraternally,
Jeremy Robinson,
Worshipful Master
